Leyte upscales business permits and licensing system of LGUs
TACLOBAN CITY Leyte, - A two-day Leyte Business Permits and Licensing Standards and Monitoring and Evaluation.
seminar workshop is set to be conducted on August 18-19 at Sabin Resort in Ormoc City in line with the Leyte Competitiveness project of the Provincial Government of Leyte in cooperation with GIZ.
The activity which will be managed by the Department of Trade and Industry and the GIZ Public Sector Promotion Program, aims to assist local government units’ Business Permit and Licensing System compliant to the DILG-DTI Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1 series of 2010 on BPLS Reforms and Standards.
DTI Leyte Director Desiderio Belas, Jr. informed that in order to sustain the BPLS reform initiatives, practical monitoring and evaluation approaches and tools will also be discussed.
Moreover, the seminar also aims to provide toolkit needed in managing its results, promoting transparency and making BPLS friendly to businessmen.
Specifically, the seminar-workshop will discuss the salient features, importance and compliance to the DILG-DTI Joint Memo; to solicit feedback and preferred schedule of implementation of DILG-DTI JMC on BPLS Standards in their respective local government units; and to present and discuss practical approaches and tools in monitoring and evaluation to sustain and measure gains of their respective BPLS reforms and upgrading initiatives.
Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, who will be represented by First District of Leyte Board Member Roque A. Tiu, will give the Inspirational Message in the opening of the two-day seminar workshop which will be participated in by 14 local government units including the City of Ormoc.
The Business Permits and Licensing System Reforms and Upscaling is part of Governor Petilla’s Leyte Competitiveness Project with GIZ.
To recall, the Province of Leyte has twice been cited by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the Most Business Friendly Province of the Philippines, and is now eyeing its third win as it was nominated again this year, in the Search.
