Philippine Quality Award: 13TH Conferment Ceremony
Philippine organizations that have achieved exceptional performance in overall organizational processes were recognized in a Conferment Ceremony at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of Malacañan Palace on January 27, 2011. His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III together with Secretary Gregory L. Domingo of the Department of Trade and Industry; Mr. Antonio D. Kalaw, Jr, President of the Development Academy of the Philippines, Amb. Cesar B. Bautista, NCC Co-Chair; Mr. Angelito M. Sarmiento, President of the PQA Foundation, Inc.; Mr. Raymond Tan and Mr. Ruy Moreno, Chair and Co-Chair of the PQA Board of Judges, respectively, awarded the 2010 PQA Recognitions to three recipient organizations. Sunpower Philippines Manufacturing Limited – the global leader in manufacturing the highest solar modules for homes, businesses, commercial buildings and power plant was awarded with the PQA Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2). While two other private sector organizations were conferred the PQA Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management (Level 1) namely: Mariwasa Siam Manufacturing Inc. and RCM Manufacturing Inc. RCM Manufacturing is a subsidiary of Philips Respironics Hongkong Limited.
These three companies have proven that Philippine organizations can attain the highest level of quality and business excellence comparable to world-class organization here and abroad. They serve as benchmarks for other local organizations to be emulated.
The PQA is a national performance excellence program that recognizes achievements of public and private organizations in their journey towards organizational performance excellence. Patterned after the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program of the United States, the PQA is the highest award that can be received by any Philippine organization. It sets the global standard to help our local organizations achieve world-class performance and serve as a template for competitiveness based on the principles of Total Quality Management.
